Ad-hoc cargo at Cargo Center Billund:
A will to make a difference..
Among the strongpoints of Cargo Center Billund is “ a will to make a difference” – and a high degree of flexibility, if one leading airfreight forwarder’s words are to be taken at face value.
-Over the years, we generate quite a number of ad-hoc cargo flights, including not least humanitarian freighter operations where flexibility is the crucial parameter. And this is fully secured in our relations with Cargo Center Billund, says Ole Lyngshede Lund, Scan Global Head of Department.
-Needless to say, humanitarian operations always come unexpectedly, calling for action without prior notice. Flexibility is especially required as to the timing of arrivals of the relief materials that may have to be released from bonded warehouses and transported from various providers into the airport. All work is performed at high stress levels, permits must be obtained from various authorities – and yet the entire chain of work processes must eventually fall into place right up to the loading and dispatching of the freighter.
-I have to say that we have never experienced any issue or problem delaying the dispatch of the aircraft at the agreed and scheduled time! And this is thanks to the attitude prevailing among all staff at Cargo Center Billund: they have a will to make a difference and are dedicated to make things possible whatever the challenges. Contributing to the successful operation is also the fact that the team that starts the job is also the team that eventually closes the case, says Mr Lund.
